Last week we had a look at why it is important to comprehend the completed work of Jesus Christ. We found that if we do not fully digest what His completed work is and why we are to look upon Him, then we will never receive the things that can only be found in Him.

Today, having now understood that principle, we will be looking at the things that Christ has purchased for us at the cross. – This is the exciting part!

We might not have time to completely cover them all, but we will go through as many as we can today and if we need to break it into multiple parts we will do so… So keep coming back!

Now first and foremost the most important thing that Christ purchased for us at the cross… salvation from sins! Now I have heard it asked before, why this is the most important, and I have seen others come back harshly at those persons with the attitude that to even ask that question is an awful thing… but let me tell you today that it is not wrong to ask that question.

Speaking for myself, I would rather have someone honestly ask me that question as to why salvation is important, instead of pretending to know something that they really don’t understand and end up in worse shape later. Better to ask than to be forever unsure.

So, to the question: why is salvation the most important thing? Well if you’ve been coming here for a while you’ve heard me say this before: that “the lesser blessing is always included in the greater blessing”. Without salvation from sins none of the other blessings are even able to come upon us, because then we would still be under the curse of the law, buried in our sins instead of blessed under the grace of Christ Jesus.

It is salvation from sins that gives us access to communion with God, and makes us once again joint-heirs with Christ in all of the other blessings.

This fact is said plainly in the scripture of Galatians 3:13-14:

“Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”

Christ’s purpose for coming down to earth was to save us from the curses of our sins and to restore to us our rightful place and standing, and return to us the blessings. But it all starts with understanding salvation and why it is important to accept it.

Now besides a surety of entering Heaven (which is a pretty good thing on its own!), this redeemed state that we now find ourselves in affords us extra blessings as well! This just gets better from here…. Let’s take a look:

The big one: Health. Everyone wants to be healthy; none of the other blessings would matter much if we aren’t healthy to enjoy them! The good news is that the Bible is very clear on how to obtain and keep our health, and as you might expect by now, it comes from Christ Jesus. Let’s take a look at Matthew 8:16-17:

“When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:
That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.”

That word Himself there is indeed speaking of Jesus. Also the scripture there is very clear in naming both infirmities and sicknesses. This leaves no room for anything!

Christ Himself took all these things and bore them in His own body so that we would not have to suffer! There are many scriptures which speak of our total freedom, restoration and healing from all manner of illnesses, sicknesses and infirmities.

So why are so many sick today, both Christian and non-Christian? Well if I may speak boldly on this issue because it is of supreme importance that we understand this in order to achieve the desired results; the reason so many are still sick and infirm today is the very same reason that some were left sick in the Bible… Because they are unbelievers.

Yes my friends, a Christian can still be an “unbeliever”. While people may profess Christ, there are those who simply do not believe that what He has promised, He will perform – I have watched professing Christians allow themselves to be destroyed by the enemy because they simply can not reach out in faith and take hold of their promised healing. And just as we learned last week, while the blank check is ours to claim what we want, we must still actually take it to the bank and sign and cash it in.

Now on the other hand, I have seen faith-filled believers be healed of every single disease. I myself being one of them! Now what is the difference between believers and non-believers? We know that God does not play favorites… The difference was that the believers cashed the check! If you’re here today needing a healing in your body and want to be fully restored, you must first trust in God! Then find a scripture such as the one we read a few moments ago, and stand on it! Regardless of the lies that the enemy tells you that you are not any better, regardless of the pain you may feel or any other symptom, trust in God! Believe that He said what He would do, and that He will do and has done what He said! Have faith, and your healing will be cashed from the bank of Heaven and deposited into your account for all to see!

And we’re out of time… Next week we will look at the second biggest thing on everyone’s want list… Money.
